Elastomeric composition with high-disperse carbon additives

The influence of a carbon nanomaterials (CNM) obtained in high-voltage discharge plasma on the endurance of elastomer compositions has been investigated. Complex tests of elastomeric compositions with highly dispersed carbon additives allowed us to confirm the model of nonlinear elastic deformation of macromolecules and adhesion between the elastomer and the nanoparticles. The results of these investigations agree with those obtained in determining the Mooney viscosity and relaxation, the parameters of the vulcanization kinetics of rubber mix, conventional tensile strength, relative breaking elongation of highly filled rubbers based on nitrile rubbers. To verify the assumed mechanism underlying the action of a carbon nanomaterial on elastomer compositions, the parameters of their vulcanizing network have been determined using the method of equilibrium swelling.

Rubber mixes and rubber with devulcanized rubber powder. Part 2. Modification of rubber powder and granulate

Rubber mixes made of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), applied for production of technical rubber goods, were modified by a partial replacement of carbon black with a commercial devulcanized rubber powder of micronized particles. The replacement was accompanied by simultaneous changes to the composition of rubber mixes, indispensable for maintaining their processing parameters. Devulcanized rubber powder of micronized particles was introduced to rubber mixes after chemical treatment realized either by gas fluorination or plasmochemical activation using the so-called "cold" plasma.
Application of plasma-activated rubber powder instead of a virgin one makes mechanical strength of the vulcanizates increased. The coefficient of friction, abrasion resistance and the resistance to multiple bending of the materials also increases. The effect of modification depends on the kind of reactive gas being applied, power and time of plasma discharge and has to be optimized for various rubber systems. Plasma activation of the surface of a micronized rubber powder makes possible its incorporation to rubber mix in much higher extent, even up to 50 phr, without any significant deterioration of their processing and vulcanization as well as negative effect on mechanical properties of the rubber vulcanizates.

Self-adhesive labels dispersible in water - preparation and measurement

The article illustrates the preparation of water-dispersible adhesive labels. The resulting label was subjected to basic research finding the dependence of the rate of dispersion of temperature taking into account different weights of the applied water soluble pressure sensitive adhesive based on acrylic obtained. The presented research has a model character.
