Ecological safety of the production technology of synthetic rubber

Actions for decrease in gas exhausts of flares in synthetic rubber production are developed. The device is developed for wet purification of the gas exhausts, confirmed high degree of purification both in laboratory, and in industrial conditions. Was implemented layout scheme of the for the production of gas purification of synthetic rubber. The complex of the made researches has formed the basis for designing of system of purification of air of industrial premises. Burning of gas exhausts on flares has allowed reducing pollution of air basin by toxic substances considerably.

The properties of polyacrylamide nanocomposites containing silver or gold nanoparticles

Silver and gold nanoparticles (Ag-MSA, Au-MSA), obtained by chemical reduction of Ag and Au salts using mercaptosuccinic acid (MSA) as a stabilizer, were introduced to polyacrylamide (PAM) matrix. Obtained PAM nanocomposites were characterized by spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, UV-Vis). The effect of UV radiation (wavelength of 254 nm) on thin films and aqueous solutions of polyacrylamide and its composites with nanosilver and nanogold was examined. The results of spectroscopic studies revealed that the photochemical reactions in polyacrylamide/nanogold system run much more efficiently comparing to the pure polymer. In contrast, the effect of silver nanoparticles on the photodegradation of polyacrylamide is insignificant. Visualization of nanoparticles and polymer composites - their size, shape, uniformity and nanomechanical properties were examined by scanning microscopy methods (HR-TEM and AFM).

Styrene-butadiene rubber composites filled with fibers for application as gasket in solar system

The aim of our study were carbon black filled rubber blends based on styrene-butadiene rubber. We tried to incorporate to these blends bazalt and/or aramide fibers in order to make possible application of the vulcanizates as materials suitable for production of seals working in solar energy systems. In the work the kind of silane, the amount and the best way of application of silane coupling agent to the rubber blends were selected. The influence of the amount of fibers and silane on parameters of vulcanization, mechanical properties and the resistance of the composites to the action of solar medium at elevated temperature, were studied. The best results were obtained in the case of application of both kinds of fibers in a moderate total amount of 15 phr. Aramide pulp had been, prior to its application, subjected to silane impregnation. In case of basalt fibbers silane was added directed to rubber matrix.

Elastomeric bridge bearings destruction as a result of improper compound

Reliability and durability of elastomeric bridge bearings key factors were shortly overviewed. Although the 80-years use of elastomeric bearings in bridge construction confirms their utility sometimes they fail as an effect of improper technology or rubber compound. The case of improper compound based on natural rubber was discussed. In effect superficial deep horizontal cracks over the whole depth of elastomeric pads surface has been appeared. Laboratory tests carried out on sample cut from one of these pads revealed low elastomer resistance on ozone and higher temperature. As a conclusion it was decided that all defected bearings should be replaced.
